Sprang-Capelle, community of Waalwijk (cemetery Heistraat)

Sprang-Capelle, a village between Waalwijk and Waspik can be divided into the parts Sprang, Vrijhoeve and Capelle. The Heistraat is the main road that runs through Capelle, to the west of Sprang and Vrijhoeve. At the cemetery, lt. Adam's grave can be found directly behind the auditorium.

Waspik, community of Waalwijk (cemetery Dorpsplein)

Waspik is a village west of Sprang-Capelle; the cemetery is to be found behind the Protestant church at the village square in Waspik-North.

 

 

Pte. Homer Ernest Robison (Lincoln and Welland Regiment, Canada)

Waalwijk (cemetery St. Jansplein)

Waalwijk lies about 12 miles north of Tilburg and the cemetery is in the centre of the town, directly behind the St. Jan (John) cathedral. The site is easy to find coming from the A59 motorway using departure no. 37 or 38. Homer's grave lies on the first footpath to your right after entering the cemetery.

Kaatsheuvel, community of Loon op Zand (cemetery Zuidhollandsedijk)

Kaatsheuvel is a village about 8 miles north of Tilburg and is connected to Sprang-Capelle. The cemetery at the Zuidhollansedijk can be found behind the Protestant church there, in an area that lies west of Kaatsheuvel and south of the Heistraat in Capelle (see the description of the Location of the War Grave of Lt. I.W. Adam). Delwyn's grave lies only a few metres from a small building in the middle of the cemetery.

Heesbeen, community of Heusden (cemetery Grotestraat)

Heesbeen is a small village north-east of Waalwijk between Doeveren and Heusden. The cemetery is just behind the only church in the village.

 

 

Mne. Alan Eames and Mne. George Howard (both 27 Royal Marines)

Oudheusden, community of Heusden (cemetery Vestingstraat)

Oudheusden is a village north of Drunen and close to the river Bergsche Maas. The old cemetery can be found along the road that connects the villages Oudheusden and Heusden.

Elshout, community of Heusden (cemetery Kerkstraat)

Elshout lies south of Oudheusden with the cemetery behind the Roman Catholic church that can be found on the main road of the village. Both War Graves are situated at the entry of the cemetery. The headstone of Herbert's grave has been placed there by the family and therefore looks different from the headstones used by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Vlijmen, community of Heusden (cemetery Julianastraat)

Vlijmen lies west of 's-Hertogenbosch and east of Nieuwkuijk. The cemetery lies behind the Roman Catholic church in the Julianastraat just outside the centre of the village, both graves being halfway down the left wall of the cemetery.

Wijk en Aalburg, community of Aalburg (cemetery Veldstraat)

Wijk en Aalburg is the only village we deal with that is situated north of the river Bergsche Maas opposite Heusden. The cemetery is in Wijk en Aalburg-West just outside the village.
